Writer and Reader.

I’ve spent thirty years in advertising writing ideas that have to communicate in thirty seconds. I am creative director of a Melbourne advertising agency. I know how to weave words and pictures to construct compelling and persuasive concepts.

I am as yet unpublished. Three manuscripts completed. One manuscript, Hands All Dirty, currently being represented by a literary agent who is making submissions to publishers.

Short Story: Longlisted for the 2018 Margaret River Short Story competition.

Short Story: Highly Commended in 2019 Grace Marion Wilson Emerging Writer’s Competition.

Member: Writers Victoria.

When I’m not writing I like to read: from Ian McEwan to Cormac McCarthy, Tim Winton, Richard Flanagan, Emily Bitto, John Williams, James Salter, JG Ballard, Murray Bail, Evie Wyld, Michel Faber, John Updike, Muriel Spark, Graham Greene, Ian Rankin, Thomas Hardy, TC Boyle, the list goes on. Inevitably, I responded to an insatiable need to write. To quote Alice Munro, “It seemed I had to be a writer as well as a reader.”

Each day I wake at 4am to write (my father was a baker, so early rising is in my DNA). Besides, I never begrudge that early moment alone at the screen, I face it with a mix of relish, expectation and wonder.
